A bit late in his tenure as head coach to start this thread as his contract is not going to be extended at the end of the 12 months period which started in February this year if I am not wrong.

Anyway, what has been your views about his coaching methods and presence around Babar and the team?

Is he the right man to be there during the world cup?

His press conference from last night includes some really OTT statements which are hard to grasp.

I think as a mentor he is fantastic, he clearly inspires and commands respect amongst the boys and he is probably a leading figure in the atmosphere that has developed in our dressing room so if anything, he deserves praise for that.

Where he is weak is his strategy, gamplan and data analytics, he doesn't seem to contribute much and there is a narrow minded approach/template which is 'take the game deep and play around Babar or Rizwan'. Wo hi purani baat 'In Shaa Allah sab teek hojayaga'. It's great to have spirituality and it's a must for a strong environment, but you have to make your own effort as well, that is in analysing your own strengths/weakness, analysing your opposition, creating matchplay scenarios and being open to innovation.

His PC was a absolute trainwreck and indicative of how such a talented core group of youngsters is going to stagnate rather than develop.

Saqlain can stay on as a consultant/mentor, no issues but we seriously need to develop a strong data driven coaching staff that can enhance and develop the strong base/foundation we have.

Here's another example of how a good coach can help players develop and expand their game. Guys like Haider and Haris are loaded with potential but they have not made any progress at all. If anything, Haider looks like a lesser player than he was when he first broke out.

Utterly disappointing to hear the head coach give a press conference of this sorts. Comparing a result which is decided based on the effort and performance of players to natural occurrences such as night/day and rain/sunshine is pathetic and a loser's mentality. Then not even allowing critique on the struggling players who have been given ample chances and have flopped continuously; instead deeming it as not supporting Pakistan cricket. He's clearly not fit to be a head coach with this type of mentality, hope he gets sacked after the WC.

I know his tenure ends in February but the ODI World Cup starts in October 2023 and the WTC final is also in June where we have some important tests coming up.

While most of us wouldn't agree with his style of coaching methods, but he did a fair enough job to release him from the role now on a good note. Pay him his dues until February but replace him with an Australian tactical coach... someone like Langer, Lehmann or anyone.

I have heard a lot of people asking for changes to the captaincy and team, but the changes have to be brought from the management side first. Need to change the mindset and update the template otherwise, we'll just keep switching captains with no results in this qudrati nizam.

His performance has been great imo... His tenure should be extended and he should be our Head Coach in ODI World Cup 2023 too imo... Aamir Sohail Sir ko PCB mein koi achi position mil sakti hai imo... He was Chief Selector during Sir Inzamam Captaincy era... Saeed Anwar could be our Batting Coach whereas Aamir Sir will get a tactical, strategy wise position...

Why don't we look at the PSL?

For me, if the PCB let the PSL season play out, I am confident they could develop a quality back room staff and then hunt for a head coach for cohesion of the whole staff.

There is brilliant minds like Haider Azhar, Rehan Ul Haq, Hasan Cheema etc.

The PCB really doesn't even need to go that far and wide. We have home talent that is well ahead of some coaches out there.

I know Ramiz been getting all the hate for the pitch talks, but this guy and his statements and the whole mindset just doesn't sit right with me

I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be the real culprit who asked the ground staff to cut off all the grass on that pitch and vouched for Zahid's inclusion over Abrar here

I think we are doomed. This leadership group has been so poor. No tactics, picking the wrong players and a cowards mentality. I can still be excited about our LO team despite some tough results in big games, but the leadership of the Test team has been poor. On paper the batting doesn’t look bad if we take Azhar out, but the bowling has struggled without an inform Hassan, a fit Shaheen and picking the right spinner (Abrar). Also, Faheem has been out of the team for a bit and it seems weird considering he was playing pretty well.

You cannot win tests without taking 20 wickets. Even at full strength our fast bowlers are not capable of doing that against any top side. Easily one of the worst pace attacks going around at test level.

We needed a 2nd spinner in there although Salman's performance was very good in this test match but here we need Nauman Ali in the team to support Zahid Mehmood imo... Faheem Ashraf should be utilized as allrounder imo... Abbas would come in for Harris Rauf... Faheem Ashraf / Waseem Jr for Mohd Ali imo...

Abrar ko chance milega imo but Zahid ne buhat achi bowling ki hai imo, he picked wickets too and bowled long spells which is the need of test cricket... Zahid has looked like Danish Kaneria imo...
