His game against pace isn't bad. The problem is that if u compare his strike rate against pace to his strike rate against spin, then obviously it's a big gap.
But his SR against pace isn't that bad. It's around 135.

Today's Lahore versus Islamabad game showed how crucial role keeper can play in the success of the team, teams win and lose game on small margins, Salt showed that beautifully for Lahore, first by taking a catch of shahdab, That I don't ever see Azam Rehree Khan take, neither do I see him being able to collect the balls and run the batsman out the way Salt did, especially under pressure like Salt was in for Wasim Jr run out. In today's game Rehree was able to run one batsman out but even with that it was a messy collection when he broke the ball and literally ball was almost coming out of his hand when he broke the stumps. Luckily the umpires did not have a very super close look at it so the decision was given as out but it shows how under par his performance has been as a wicket keeper and as a keeper he is an unreliable option.

Was very skeptical when we announced that we had taken him tbh...but credit where it's due. He's done very well. Will hopefully improve further, will hopefully work on his fitness (his inability to take 2s is damaging to the team) and hopefully he will learn to close out/finish games.

He’s improving for sure. There’s hope that he will improve his fitness because from all accounts in his interviews he has said it’s something he needs to get sorted unlike the likes of Sharjeel who have made excuses like ‘fitness doesn’t matter as much as performances’.

Unfortunately that half is a pretty darn crucial piece to the team success. We have seen a wicket keeper batsman (The most successful keeper in the history of Pakistan domestic cricket) being ridiculed for his less than ideal wicket keeping skills, even though he was many times better batsmen than Azam, or many of his competitors.
Why one standards for him and different ones for azam?
Well you quoted Salt's dismissal and missed out on Wasim Jr not doing his basics right as well by not diving at a crucial point of the game.
Criticize Azam for not batting well or his fitness or when he drops catches and bottles at a kamranesque level.... just nitpicking on a messy collection in a run out is a bit OTT and seems like you are doing it just for the sake of it tbh.
