PAK The aftermath of Kakul camp...

Thread is about Pakistan cricket
Azam Khan and Rizwan have been ruled out of this series. Rizwan even in contention to miss the Ireland & England tours now. Who knows how serious their injuries are and if they are going to get fit in the next 35 days for the world cup.

So it begs the question if this army camp is the reason behind these injuries if it was really necessary to conduct it? What exactly did PCB or the team achieve from it?

Such a big board and nobody noticed that some of these players have been playing non-stop cricket in the past 12 months. Don't they realize that different professions (let alone sports) require specialized or specific physical+mental training and this military training wasn't going to help them with their cricket? On top of that, nobody advised them to keep the fragile/injury prone players away from military exercises.

Instead, I'd suggest to send this team to one of the other physical sports' training camps for a month or two and we could see better and more fruitful results. But for that, the board needs to learn it requires to adapt a more scientific approach towards fitness and training to help the players and not military training.

rizwan was hiding this injury for a long time

It was yet another political stunt which served no real purpose as far as cricket is concerned. No serious athlete is out there doing military drills in a two week camp to improve their fitness and eating cakes rest of the year lmao.

Some of those drills were pretty dangerous and unnecessary, I'm actually relieved we didn't see a few players with ankle injuries. They had them running up mountains with stones over their head rofl.

If PCB was serious about fitness, they'd hire proper world class strength and conditioning trainers who would be with the team all year round. And introduce strict guidelines regarding players' diets.

Honestly i don't know why they made them do army level training, this is cricket and not boxing. Circuit training is the best cardio and then you have your weights for strength and conditioning. Don't go overboard with the workouts.

Even if he was, so how was his board not able to identify it all this time?

I feel like it wasn't a full-blown injury but just something he has struggled with. He's had cramps and hamstring problems for a while now, stopped many an innings to call the physio out. Seems like it was only a matter of time before it gave way and it looks like PSL followed by high-intensity training for 2 weeks and then a T20 series was all that was needed to push it over the edge.

Not a fan of Azam’s fitness, but the Kakul camp was stupid. It was never realistic to improve fitness within a short timeframe. Just a gimmick to make it seem PCB care about fitness.

Nothing to do with Kakul. Our players have no ability. Even if you train them in the best facility available they won't perform.

Same set of core players were performing and competing against strong teams until 2 yrs back.

The camp will focus on team building and aims to enhance the physical and mental strength of the players, ensuring they are in the best condition to face the challenges ahead. Under the guidance of experienced trainers and coaches, the players will undergo a comprehensive training regime tailored to elevate their fitness levels, agility, leadership and strategic thinking and overall performance on the field.

This whole squad seems to have regressed in every facet that this camp was supposed to improve in them be it physical/mental strength, condition, fitness, agility, and esp leadership and strategic thinking.

To be honest they are going south since the last Asia Cuo well before the Kakul camp

Forcing Saim and Azam into the starting XI
Average of 15 and 8 respectively has completely destroyed the batting lineup. One got a duck yesterday and the other had flopped every game almost

Persisting with Rauf who conceded 533 runs in 9 matches at the World Cup and averaged 66 at the PSL who ended up being the reason they even got to a super over.

Amir over Wasim Jnr and Death Specialist Zaman Khan.

Persisting with non bowling leg spinner like Shadab over Abrar because he performs once blue moon with the bat.

Then of course Babar who insists on wanting to open even though he has a PowerPlay SR of 119 in 2024 while Rizwan and Fakhar are striking at 149 and 185 in comparison

All these things add up

Babar shouldn't open because he has a low SR. When he doesn't open he is scared of facing up the new ball. Which one is it?

That rain affected game against India in the last Asia cup was the starting point of this regression

They weren't that good even before that imo. Losing to England and Australia in home test series. Nz would have also beaten us but ran out of time. Beating C and D teams in limited overs cricket hid a lot of home truths.
